A Husband's Experience of Infertility and Pregnancy Loss + An Update!

A Husband's Experience of Infertility and Pregnancy Loss + An Update!

SHOW NOTES: Episode 44

Today on the Path to Motherhood Podcast we are joined by my very own husband, Jason.

I think that it can be easy on this journey to miss or downplay the experience of the infertility journey or pregnancy loss journey for the partners.  So today I wanted to have my own partner on and just ask him some questions, open up, share some things that has gone on from his experience.

We talk about our journey and what this infertility rollercoaster experience has been like for him. He opens up about what have been the difficult parts of the journey for him and how there does seem to be this pressure spouses have to "take care of us" while also having their own emotional experience of the journey. He acknowledges that when we started trying for a baby miscarriage and infertility were not on his radar. He had to learn about these things along the way. Jason also shares that for men, talking about your feelings and opening up about infertility isn't something that is commonly done. He feels comfortable to do this with me, because we have built that into the fabric of our relationship, but that isn't something common among him and his friends.

We open up together about our experience of our relationship going through such a difficult time, how this hurdle has actually brought us closer together and why that is. We share about our difficult moments where we didn't seem to agree and how we got through them. There is no hiding that infertility has affected our marriage and we are honest about that. We also talk a bit about parenting through infertility and what that has looked like for us.

We talk about the blame game and how at the end of the day, regardless of Male or Female factor infertility, You are a Team, and approaching the journey this way will be a recipe for success.

Jason will share tips for partners on the infertility rollercoaster, but also my hope is that just hearing his story will help to allow your partners to feel just a bit less alone.

To close out the episode we share an update of where we are on our journey, so I hope you stay tuned!
